What's our gender split on MCB?

So not identifying gender in 2021 or make anything political...

Having a discussion over this article (https://www.hp-wt.com/women-in-paintball.html) and it got me wondering what the female representation is on here. As much as I hate to admit it, this is still considered a "boy's club" so it makes hard for women to get in without knowing someone or get away with any level of ribbing in a sexist manner.

Second part: Who is on here that is considered an ally that brings it to the field for ultimate inclusivity?

      Yeah, totally!

So at my job, lots of people consider myself as an ally to the opposite gender. I'm just generally empathetic and treat women as I believe as they should be treated. I bring that same mindset to the field. This works on 2 levels for me. I get to grow the sport and help up the ratio for those that think it's just a game that silly men do.

That is not being an ally. That is simply not being a dick.
It is indeed a sad world we're living in, if not being a dick is what now passes for being nice/being an ally.

Oh, and just to be sure - I am in no way trying to belittle you in any way.

I would consider that this forum is 100% male. Any female posting here is either an impostor, or at the direction of her man for hit count.

In my own experience every single women I have ever know being involved in paintball was being exploited in one way or another, and PARTICULARLY early in the sport. Skill didn't play into shit so long as you looked good on some 14yo's barrel bag.

Well, I wouldn't say 100%. I'll let others speak up against your statement.

I mean, are you or do you identify as female?

Paintball is a predominately male dominated sport. MCB is a niche with in that. I doubt there are many females on the form. However I’ve met played against and with many females that would beat the brakes off the above average player. I have a female teammate that earned her way on our 10man team that is an awesome player (Regardless of sex). Destiny back in the day had some amazing female ballers and athletes. Some I have played with on the national stage. They are out there but it’s not something that is very common. Even less common on a form dedicated to old school brass paintball markers.

But Tracy will ball with the best of them. Don’t sleep on her, she will send you to the dead box real quick. She is fast and has an amazing snap shot.

For new gals, I always go out of my way to help them setup, load pods, fill air. While at the same time not trying to intrude or seem 'too helpful". Other gals Ive known show up more ready than me.

Its bothered me that women Ive been around in PB liken the experience to working out at a gym. They are not on the field to find a date. Just calm ya'lls pecker down.

I will never use language like ally to describe myself either. I have been my authentic, good self to women in this sport and others my entire life. I call it being a decent human being.

So I guess that makes me the <1% ?! -- I assure you, I am no imposter or I'm definitely not anyone's arm candy/hit count/pin up. Don't get it twisted... I'm not easily offended by any means. If I had any hint of exploitation... I would likely throat punch you -- in a very ladylike fashion. I bust my girly parts to improve my game and don't want to be treated any differently.

That being said... I love and have an appreciation for the sport. I love to tech and tinker, but I honestly don't think I would have found this forum if not introduced by ChoSanJuan

I assure you are the exception, not the rule. You have to be well aware of the lack of other fagina's around here.

I think you can readily look back over the history and media in this sport, particularly as it pertains to (almost) any famous female involved and see exactly what I am talking about. I didn't pull it out of my ass just to mysogynistic.

I don't like being labeled as that, myself. it's just what happened due to corporate America. Sounds like we are in the same frame of mind. Good on ya!

Haha... fagina. All valid points. I am fairly new to the sport and have had nothing but good experiences with minimal douchebaggery. Most are extremely supportive, but I have heard of the misogynistic ways of the past. And then people wonder why the sport declined (I know there are many other contributing factors ). It makes me sad that many females are still hesitant to play, even after encouragement and invitations. It's makes my smile when I go to events and there's a significant contingency of lady ballers.

I love the paintball community. I've learned so much on these forums and have met some awesome dudes. And true, I wouldn't consider myself typical for my gender, but then... what is typical?

There are some ladies as just demonstrated. I think of Listesssa, although she hasn't been around in awhile. There have been a couple others. For sure it is generally a dude heavy sport and the forum reflects it. Whether it's cultural, or some innate male inclination to combat sports, or some combination, I don't know.

I am glad to see the decline of sexy ads and "spokesmodels". I've always been slightly offended by the notion that I'm supposed to lose all control and buy a product because the company paid some top-heavy model to take off her clothes and pose with it.

Through the years I have been team mates with 7 women. Beyond that I have enjoyed the privilege of playing with many more.

I have experienced women who found this sport as a platform for media exposure. Fortunately for every one of those types there many more like Lin Tran and Be a Youngs; hardworking skilled paintball players that are role models on and off the field.

Paintball needs players. The more ladies the better.

Does that reflect MCB traffic? We all know it does. The brand of towel snapping that goes on here is one of the qualities of a sausage party.

I have played a couple event alongside Bea with Destiny. Well, I say I played...I was there. She is an amazing player and a gracious person but there is ZERO question that the aforementioned exploitation aspect exist(ed) even with her. There is (also aforementioned) barrel bag as proof. I would leave it to her to say whether she was proud of that accomplishment or not.

I've heard some podcasts where she has talked about said barrel bags... I don't remember the specifics but she owns it.
