I vote purple orange swirl shell, and white fill and will buy 5 cases.
White fill and red fill is banned at the only byop field i know (light blue used too be but they sold some id consider light blue last weekend, can't have the same fill as the grenades was the reason given)
But that monopoly is why paintball isn't regulated to just outlaw ball games. Unless you want entry and air to be $100 bucks or something else high no fields can maintain the cost of running a business.

I get it though. If i just so happen to got the same exact paint as the event/rec field sells. Im gonna use it. Just to easy i got to do it out of principle.

My color choice is yellow balls with pink fill. .

Fill color is debatable, but pink stains. One thing I refuse to buy is pink fill.

Yeah but its gotta be bright. So if not pink it have to be like neon green or something. Stands out when it breaks. Neon green fill id like a pink shell though. .

Im still willing to put money down for a case. If word spreads of quality, round, big bore paint being made available im sure it be a hit. Regardless of wether the big bore size is necessary for them. Everyone hates shitty paint and would buy better stuff if made available. They already accepted the premium paint scheme since its the reason people buy graffiti and evil because it's usually the best you can get. Defy, WPN, and APX i still need to try .

I'd be down to pay a premium for even moderately better paint, but I'm worried about shipping. What's the likelihood that my >$80 case will have turned to footballs and mush by the time it get to me in NY?

Basically nothing besides good packaging and hoping for no extreme temperature changes during shipping. .

I went to order paint from Nelson when they were running that sale it was $30 a case just to have it shipped to NY. Honestly I would pay that for large bore paint especially a better ball. Unfortunately the one field that’s BYOP is changing there policy because people were shooting plastic training rounds at the last big game. But I would love to have some large bore for Outlaw I’m sure I can shoot a case or so. But the main place I would have been able to shoot it I won’t be able to in a few months. Kind of sad I got to get in the habit of buying less paint I hate throwing it out.

Chuck E Ducky Are you talking about APE? If they shitcan byop just as I'm getting back in the hobby I'll be heartbroken.

Yeah scenarios will be FPO from now on and next year no more BYOP. There going to carry Valken Graffiti so at least it will be good Field paint.

Ugh. End of an era. Seems like a bit of a cop out though, if someone is going to try to hurt people during an event I can't imagine asking them to pretty please buy our balls is going to make much difference.

I wonder if it would be worth it to them to have a couple of cases of "premium" paint on hand for people who want to shell out. It's been years since I've been there, but I remember there being a fair number of pump and magfed players around.

I have a feeling they were planning on going FPO for a while now may have just been a convenient excuse. I'm sure I can talk them into keeping premium paint. I'm not playing competitively anymore so I can get away most days with a bag of decent paint, so I'm not too concerned I just have to pay more attention to how much I buy because I would always buy a case because I had a place to shoot it. now I'm just going to buy what I need for the day. I will most likely spend less this way anyway and not end up with a basement full of half cases like I do know.

If your business model relies on keeping things as cheap as possible so to protect your margins, then the field is nothing more a Walmart paintball field. Cheap disposable crap. Maybe my time through Europe and the mediteranian states showed me what real quality is like. Yes you pay for it.

I think you're being too harsh. These businesses are caught in a vicious cycle as a result of short sighted corporate marketing back when paintball was a fad. In order to not need to compete on price, they would need to ween themselves off of the birthday party based business model, which I think even the best fields would struggle to do at this point.

I personally would love a paintball field with an enthusiast oriented, entry fee based business model like a Ski mountain, but I don't know how many others would be up to paying a big fee upfront to walk on.

Maybe I am being harsh, but change will only happen if people are willing to take the risk. Mitigate that risk by collaborating with other businesses. Ive never ran a paintball field before, but "because its out of my control" is a defeatist attitude that only toes the status quo. This is why I will always sneak in better quality paint onto fields, if I can. Simply because I want a better experience, one that the field will not provide.

Now everyone knows my intentions, I still want purple and orange swirl with white fill.

EDIT: There will come a time when these fields will have to take the band aid off, or go under. They can peal it slowly, or tear it off quickly.
