I wish there was a modern marker that was popular and modular so that it was completely customizable and had a "system" of aftermarket parts like autocockers. The closest thing I've found is an Ion, but even those are old and the good parts are rare and hard to find, and they were never high-end markers so even though you can make them shoot pretty awesome, they'll never have a balanced bolt. I'd kill for something like DM/Luxe internals in something as modular as an autococker/Ion with private label frames, bodies, and internals. I just want something that's "mine" that I don't feel guilty/disadvantaged for using in a speedball game.

I know there is the SFT/NXT Shocker, but they don't have the variety. Mostly it's just differently milled bodies/frames. If it were me I'd really want a Nunmech shocker body and an Etek Star Frame ShEgo combination since that's actually function/ergonomics/usability improvements. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon as they don't make Nummech bodies anymore, and I have no idea where I'd get an Etek Star Frame.

That would be fun. It seems like the only semi popular modern marker that has that support is the autococker platform. I frankly miss some of the great platforms of the past. The ion was a great one, change the body to get BOTB capability, change the frame, reg, trigger etc. Some some crazy ion builds back around 14-15 years ago.

The EMEK is starting to get there. The limit now is how few aftermarket parts shops there are now. Back in the day damn near every shop had their own parts for the autococker

I'm not aware of anyone making new internals for the EMEK or any gamma core marker. Cosmetics, sure, but nothing substantial. With Ions you could completely replace the entire upper body with a Lucky or GCPB or TechT kit, and with Shockers you can get completely redesigned bolts, although they still mostly follow the HE bolt with minor dimension changes or maybe an added spring.

Nummech has been doing some interesting things with Axe bodies, but that's about it.

Have you checked the actual tank mfrs? e.g. Luxfer.

Does Luxfer have a retailer for non-SCUBA tanks? Their site didn't turn up much, and the only ones I can find for sale are larger cylinders.

I stopped bothering to keep track of all the current spool valve markers and the like. Identifying an Eclipse or a Mini is easy enough, but they're all just occupying space to me. I'll stick with my Cockers, Angel, Shockers, Impulses, Mag, Pro Lite, and Matrix (on the way).

The Eclipse LV1 is a pretty strange looking gun, if you ask me...

ive had long drawn out postts about this but the hunt and peck technique sucks... so ill keep it short... screw all those ego looking boring ass markers! bring me something with some character!
Try and LV1 or G6r for character. I agree the Luxes/CS/ShockerXLS/DSR all look and shoot relatively the same but the new generation poppets have a very distinct character. I'd even argue that if you're just looking at the mainstream you're missing out on a lot. There's tons of new 'cockers out now as well as some side manufacturers like Macdev doing cool things.

Agreed. While I've never shot a G6R I shot my buddy's LV1 a couple years ago and that inspired me to pick up an Etek 5. It's basically an older Ego in a LV1 body. Super reliable & shoots well. Minimal bells & whistles to get in the way too. The sound signature is the only thing I don't care for. But considering how nice the marker is I can live with that. Though it doesn't have quite the character of an autococker it's got more character than most spoolers out there IMO.

Amen to that. I went through the mental gymnastics of saying "all new guns are the same" for so long until I tried a friend's LV1.1 at the field a few months ago and I'm converted. The Etek is a great gun and super reliable but damn, the LV takes it to the next level with the super soft shot quality. Feels mechanical like a poppet but smooth like a spool.

People might no believe it based on the evolution of the spool valve guns but no doubt paintball technology is moving forward, mainly driven by Planet Eclipse.

Oh, I know it. The LV1 is like butter. But that damned AT pipe, lol. That's why I went for the Etek 5 instead.

It will work on anything that can take a standard bottle.

JT Pro and Tournament cleats. They were just enough of a blend between a hiker/cleat/boot that they were great for just about any type of paintball game you did, speedball to woods and anything in between.

Availability of marker parts and accessories in every color under the sun. More than just 2 or 3 brands of soft goods, sure those brands have multiple styles but they are still fairly monotonous compared to late mid 90s through 2010. Individual companies that were being innovative and competitive instead of these large conglomerates. Revy hoppers with all the different color shells.
