Thought I'd Share These Custom AutoMag Pics From The Nineties

A friend of mine imported this custom AutoMag by Earon Carter to Australia in the mid nineties. I came across these old photos of the marker recently and thought I'd share. Pink is so cool.

The era of "fake pumps" on mags to confuse players was fun

Thats what that is. Confused me to I was trying to figure out the purpose of that extra barrel piece. I was thinking it added weight to the front to help balance out the larger back bottle setup. Cool piece of History.

Mike I'm loving all the cool old school photos you keep posting. It's amazing how much smaller the tanks have gotten. Here I thought my Phantom felt bulky with a 13ci hanging off the vert ASA. (That 2nd photo with the Vert setup and big old Co2 tank) love it! Those Indian Creak hoppers actually feed really well, at least they do now with todays small paint. I got one with that same cover and a tiger stripe one to.

*Indian Springs. The maxi 90 round hoppers feed way better than the 200 round ones, in my experience. I live in Ohio, so basically everywhere I played when I was getting started used Indian Springs (Akron) or Allen (Cleveland) products.

Indian Springs correct sorry. I have the 90 and it works well. Not JoLo well. But pretty good.

It's all good man. I wasn't trying to be a jerk. Just a little bit of hometown pride. I haven't tried a JOLO, but I really like my maxi 90 on my pump, and I've had good experiences with APPs 150 count Sight Feeder on blowbacks and Automags, surprisingly.

Were those rails custom milled like that? I swear I have had like 5 or so of that type of milled rail just like that. However, I don't see them come up much anymore.

It's worth noting that back then, by some quirk in the law, you couldn't import a semiauto paintball gun to Oz.

Once it was in the country, it was perfectly okay, and any semiauto made in Oz was fine (IE, the Perentie Badger) but by that quirk, they couldn't be imported.

This is the first I'd heard of the fake pumps, but as I understand it, a lot of people imported actual pump Automags, and then simply took the pump kit off. It wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of people bought Sniper-2s and then replaced the pump with the set of pneus, too.

Maybe one of you Ozzies could clarify all this for us.

Wasn't something Oz specific with fake pumps.... We sold them locally in NY

Doc is right. The ONLY reason that we have the pump mag is to circumvent Australian firearm regulation at the time.

Fake pumps... kind of reminds me of some newer auto-triggered snipers, or hair triggers on newfangled mechs: your gun is disguised as something it isn't

Looks like a horizontal foregrip to me. Tippmanns all had horizontal foregrips, so did palmer guns. People liked to hold guns up there and they didn't restrict crawling.

I'm not saying that people weren't fake-pumping though. Just adding

I looked at it anf thought the same. Only thing I can think of is the bottom of the sight rail is milled with a curve to hug the body and the body is drilledand tapped

One of the causes of all this activity is that I've finally set up a Facebook account. I held out for years but I've promised not to upload cute photos of the kids, political memes and pics of my lunch . Some of the stuff people post is amazing. It's a bit like walking in on your best friend with his pants down. So I'm only posting paintball related material and trying while the enthusiasm lasts to post something daily.
