Finding those old markers or parts

The post going around where Gringo is looking for the ano matched parts to the Chord got me thinking.

Have you ever successfully located or re-purchased a marker that wasn't to a friend? Especially in the case where who you sold it to, sold it to?

In my own experience with it I have only attempted to hunt down a select few. I attempted to find an Angel that I sold here and when I found it appeared to have been drug down a dirt road and left in a swamp.
I found another by accident...sort of a funny story with that one, in that I tried to purchase it back from a member and it had been stolen in a group of gear. I never heard about it again and some years later another member posts a pic of it. I instantly message him informing that he may have purchased a stolen marker, messaged the guy I sold to whom it was stolen from...turned out that it had been recovered and actually sold a time or two in the interim.

The last one I can recall was a cocker that I sold and ended up finding within a groups picture gallery. Hit the current owner up and he mentioned not wanting to sell. A few months later he contacted me back and the whole thing was a bit strange with him offering it back to me for what I had sold it for to some previous prior owner. Long story short it turned out that the guy's profile had been hacked and this person had gone back through who knows how many private messages attempting to scam someone. Thank goodness my spidey sense went off.

By and large I have not been able to locate too many things once sold off. They seem to be lost to the ages, likely sitting in the bottom of a closet or such somewhere.

I often think about trying to track down my first marker bbuuut that would be a massive challenge.
One of my favorite Phantoms ever, I found on eBay in a modified stock class configuration. Cool "tiger stripe" camo ano, and the threads were proprietary to the body - a batch Mike did where the threads and breech were basically special to one another, so it couldn't use other Phantom barrels. Only non-matching parts it had were the vertical ASA, so I got a black one an turned it into a VSC set up, and could rock it open class too. Freak bored the barrel, ASP detent, had CCM fittings and steel line. Sold it to a guy in Canada on PBN, was able to buy it back some time later for the same price. But stupid me sold it again because I just wan't using it like I should have.

I bought a Stingray from a member on here that turned out to be one I had owned in high school... still had my initials in it, and everything.

I also recently re-acquired my very first marker. I thought I had lost it forever in a pretty nasty break-up some years ago... but it popped up and is now mine, again.

It's funny how these things found their ways back to me 20 years/600 miles/3 states away from where I originally owned them.
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

I have one that I bought and sold twice about 10-15 years ago, and would love to buy again.

it’s a silver to blue fade mini STO with a ccm pump kit, in case anyone has seen one...

I picked up a black Nasty Houndstooth from Freedom, kept her for a year or two then sold her. About a year later she pops up for sale and I couldn't resist. 6 months later sold her back to Freedom...not sure where she is now

I was able to reacquire the Minicocker I built back in 2002. The body was a one-off from a guy on the old AIR-Powered forum down in Sierra Vista. I had it anodized a brilliant lime green. The new owner had swapped the original chrome Eclipse Blade frame with a black one, but everything else- Jackal parts, nickel Sidewinder, original J&J Edge kit- was the same. I sold it during the second Great Sell-Off six years ago, but the Ripper-bodied Mini I have now uses most of the same parts. If I see it again, I'll probably buy it, but I'm not looking too terribly hard.

I have to laugh a bit at that one. When I was in the hospital some Palmer's bits I had ordered beforehand came in. My wife brought them up to show me...among it a new Chrome Palmers Stab for a build I was in the midst of. I opened the box, looked at it. I saw it leave the room headed home with the wife and that was the last I have ever seen of it. No idea what happened to it. I still hope that one day I will open some random box and find it.

Nish sold me back my DP G3 that I sold him a year earlier. I wasn't even looking to get it back, and honestly forgot that I sold it to him. I just got a hankering for a DP marker one day and posted in the WTB, and Nish was like "Hey, looking for a G3? I've got this blue one lying around, *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*" And I'm like "Sure, something special about it?" hahaha
