I was considering some sort of leg set up recently. I'm significantly less agile than I was when I was a kid playing and think it may work out now that I'm not baseball sliding into things.
-
I bought an HK Army 3+5 a year or so ago. Best pack I've used, with Mantis packs being a close second. The stitching is solid, as are the Velcro and elastic loops (not that I ever use more than one pod out of it for rec play). Plenty of adjustment range. I have a 35" waist, but this would fit around a twig or a small cetacean.

My 2 favorite packs are the Dye Attack Pack Pro and the Exalt pack. I'm a smaller guy like you, 5'9" 140lbs 29" waist, and I had troubles with a lot of the popular packs spinning around my sides when diving or crawling. Both these packs are great about not doing that. The Dye pack is probably lighter, comfier, holds more and collapses down to be lower profile, BUT it is difficult to put pods in it while you are wearing it, and mine has shown faster wear and tear than my other packs, so I don't think it will have the longest life (going on 2 years now). The Dye pack is also very pricey. The Exalt pack is much more firm and supportive, maybe slightly less comfy, but in a good and secure way. It is much easier to put pods in, is a tighter fit on the waist, and is much more secure about holding the pods. The Exalt pack is easier to wipe down between games, and is more affordable, but doesn't collapse down as pods are used and isn't as low of profile. If there's anything I've left out that you want to know about these two packs, let me know, but I've been searching for the best pack for smaller guys like us for years, and I'm finally happy with these. Since you are even slimmer, I would really recommend the Exalt 3-pack. I think the Dye pack won't get tight enough for you.

Several different faux plates to choose from out there, here’s a fancy one: https://www.evike.com/products/95531/

I don't care about the quality of the pods, and if others experience dictate that it would work. I INHERENTLY mistrust all equipment and would rather have redundancy to ensure that it doesn't happen. I know my car's Self braking system works but I don't trust it enough to not be vigilant while driving.

Valken and HK packs seem to fit the juniors at my home field pretty well. I still use an nxe and or spec Ops vest so can't give a personal testimonial.

Went and played today for the first time in 2 maybe 3 years and while I only had an enmey, and playing renters, I felt f@&#ing naked without atleast one pod lol

I bought an exalt 3+4 last year but returned it. It’s an excellent pack- very robust, stable, absolutely feels like it’s designed to hold 7 pods in a tight profile. But I’m a casual rec player that carries maybe 2 pods and for that purpose it was too heavy duty for me. I don’t like big waist belts over my belly, and don’t need lumbar stiffeners to carry an extra pod or two.
The two 3+4 packs I found to my liking were the Dye Jetpack and Bunkerkings. Both are light with slimmer belts. Dye is strapped with ejectors, BK is strapless (and expensive, but I found a NOS on sale on amazon) I kept the BK because I can replace pods easier and I think it’s a little better quality.

^ This. After I got back into the sport I found myself shooting a lot less paint, making my old 5 pod NXe overkill. Went to a 3 pod Bunkerkings and I love it, so much more comfortable and compact. Highly Reccomended.

I’ve been trying out a Critical paintball stealth pack for about a year now and it’s been good so far. I had to cut all their branding off. I also use a dye attack pack for two pod games. My old NXE pack is a tank and still holds 3 pods, its my loaner. HK zero g is the next pack on my list to try.

I have a fairly unique setup. Took me years to find what i liked. For my 140rd pods I use WTF molle 3pod type packs mounted on molle leg drops. Places all pods about arms reach down on your legs.
For stock class I use similar setup. Pbmafia legdrops
