so either their are 12 total now instead of 11 of these or this is one of the 11 that was never returned to brass eagle for its recall. very cool piece of history, hence my excitement. its fitting its would get turned into goodwill. hey atleast it wasnt the dump.

Whoever gets it, I'll offer a full, free rebuild, and do my best to get the thing working- at least for as long as possible. (We all know they ain't that reliable.)

(Oh, and I'll do a full photo-spread of the teardown.)

Quick question... Did these operate via gas tube blowback like the Poisons (unless I'm completely mistaken, of course)? A slightly more lengthy question.... Would there be a way to make it operate like a self-triggered pneumatic-assist, somewhat contained in that shroud?

I like the upside down CA adapter, perhaps an attempt to get liquid CO2 from a tank to try and get it to actually work. Luckily it also has the proper extended 12 gram knob in the lot.

Yep shopgoodwill will automatically set the price to the highest bid. Not like they did before or on ebay where you have to constantly bid up to find out the max you need to go above. Idk maybe im dumb and idk .

For fun, here's mine, Cycling! I had a whole teardown thread I think on the old MCB, but did not recover it

Those things double fire like crazy. I have a video where I was shooting mine somewhere. Not worth it for using... for having and fun yes, but don't think you're going to use it. Most were converted back into pumps hence why there are not many of the semis out there.

-I've never actually been inside one, which is why I made the offer.

But I'm told it's pretty much a straight blowback. The hammer has an O-ring (unlike a typical Nightmare) and the valve vents a touch of gas backwards as well as forwards. There's an action rod on the side very much like a 68 Special. I'm not sure what's under that shroud, other than maybe a detent arrangement.

The Brass Eagle pumps used Crossman valves, not daisy (Nelson) or sheridan. They look similar to nelson-based guns, but the hammer sits behind the valve, not in front.
A quirk of crossman valve guns is that, with lots of use, the valve seal starts to wear out. The effect of this is that when you fire the gun, a small blast of co2 will also hit the hammer.

Over time, this blast gets larger and larger until its enough to make the hammer move, creating the unique "Brass Eagle burping sound", aka hammer bounce.
So in 1988, the Brass Eagle engineers though "What if we make the hammer bounce so bad..... its enough to recock the gun??"

Well, then the Brass Eagle "Eagle" was born, make from modified pumps. The idea in principle is solid, but they should have started a new gun from scratch
