where have you seen the report of a Luxe Mech Frame, I cannot find anything. I saw the new Adrenaline Luxe pics , and the new Shocker Amp with a mech frame , but nothing on a mech luxe.

Mech Luxe sounds cool. I always liked the way the luxe shot and felt in the right conditions they are awesome. They just didn’t shoot well in the cold my ICE did not shoot good if there was ICE on the ground. My fist Gen With the efficiency rod and 50/50 mix of oil and grease would work good enough but it was super hard on the internals bumping up the pressure like that. I don’t see me putting down my Emek for a more expensive less reliable less efficient setup. In the name of the Luxe experience. On the other hand I can see a lot of people will.

Yeah the mech frame is what caught my eye and has me debating on grabbing it as my one and only forever marker......convinced the wife and everything..BUT if I can snag a CS2 for $800 then a mech frame for that have CK laser engrave it, I’ll hold off. Struggles of being a speed baller/rec baller/and scenario guy haha

I’m curious how many people actually buy these markers like this with both mech and electro frames and change them regularly. Seems like to much trouble for me. Running the eyes threw the body being carful not to pinch them in the frame. Before going out to play. I’m lucky if I find time to wash my gear. People are pulling frames off before going to play? I just don’t see it. I do see it selling markers, but the majority of people buying these things don’t know how to work on them. How can they, newist marker is right around the corner or “coming soon”. Aside from pulling the bolt and wiping it off and greasing it that’s about how far most players are diving into marker Tec. I know players that have been in the game 20 years still hand me stuff to do basic maintenance when it stops shooting. As the go to guy that fixes stuff all the time. I just don’t see many taking advantage of the two frames. I do see people buying a mech luxe so they can say they have a mech luxe. Staging area Pimps rejoice... “Welcome to the Mech Luxe experience”, Guess they will have to say that out loud yourself ( no batteries yo) 😂

Had a luxe 2.0 oled for years. It was a great marker and i do miss it. But i dont think ill ever want to play with an electro like that on the field again. It actually is too much firepower than i want to play with.

I remember being so excited about the new DM or Ego. I don't know if it's just me but I feel like PB RnD investment is at an all time low.
I made a papercraft wargame, try it here >

I’d have to disagree, we've got Electros with 60 second conversions to mech and no macro lines that you can charge in your car at the field in an emergency if you don’t have batteries. Then the JT masks that we all grew up playing with are still being produced but in different ways. Loaders are low pro and able to blue tooth into firing settings. Tanks are lighter more compact, with some even not having a 15 yr shelf life that can get rehydro’d as long as you’ll ever play the sport, CCI phantoms been revived, Mag fed is now a thing, guys are privately making custom boards for out old autocockers and etc.

There just isn’t as many companies as there were from 2005-2012 When the most RnD took place, but that got us to the level we are at now.

Well sure, but as you say most of that RnD happened more than five years ago. Right now it seems to have tanked.

The most innovation recently came from PE with the MF100 and PALS system, and emeks and etc, but none of that is particularly recent now. The DAM is ancient and Dye are barely a shell of their former glory.

I've said before that I think the mech and 10 man revival is actually a bad sign for the sport, as it shows the industry is aiming at older players rather than newer. That's suicide for any industry. Magfed was the most promising growth area but that seems to have stalled too.

JT masks being back is just evidence of the same problem.

I mean it's not that bad - nothing is stopping people playing so long as paint is being produced, but the industry has definitely lost the "next big thing" hype we had in the noughties.

I see your points and agree with the ”Next Big Thing” being lost. I’ll also acknowledge that it is us, the players, that are keeping this sports head above water. I don't believe it will ever die out though.

I actually see quite a few younger players at my field getting into 10 man and mech. Early twenties I mean. Some older teenagers though

I see it as quite the opposite.

I work in the musical instrument field and see a lot of classic ideas being revived or revisited there too but with modern materials and approaches.

People in their late teens and early twenties are interested in this classic stuff. Vintage clothes. Old hairstyles (um, mullets are making a comeback?!). Vinyl Records. Why not original paintball formats? I think it makes it more accessible and unites the older and younger generations. If it weren't for the rejuvenation, these older players wouldn't keep up with todays NXL. And lets face it, that format can still be intimidating for a brand new player, even with the lower BPS.
Magfed is not the solution to all of paintballs woes. You seem to like it a lot, which is cool, but it's not an easy intro into the sport. Growth comes from people having a fun, positive experience. Having less to worry about, like batteries, removes another obstacle for the person looking to just have fun with our wonderful, and sometimes silly, paint game.

Wasn't this thread about gear anyway?

Saw that Spire now has an IR2 coming out!

I think the industry has moved from rushing into production and loudly proclaiming "F1RST!" to taking a little more time, one product at a time, to create something reliable and stable. Today's new gun makes an Automag look finicky. That's a great move. The difference between a young kid with an Impulse versus an Etek is that the kid with the Etek will spend his money on paint, not Tapeworms and LPRs.

There isn't a new gun on the market I'm not at least curious about trying.

I 100% agree. As much as I love my BKO, every time I have to tear it apart I'm wondering why I'm still using the thing. But nostalgia is a powerful thing, so meh.
I forgot about all the crap you needed for the Impulse though. That's kinda funny looking back at it.
