Pot Luck Paint Game - Wanna Play Paintball - October 18th

With the end of the year approaching, let's burn through whatever paint we have left before it goes bad.

Bring whatever paint you have left from the year's previous events and/or any other intact paint you have lying around that you'd like to donate to the event. By the end of the day, the goal is to burn through all of it. Mechanical or electronic markers are preferred, though you can shoot whatever you want. The goal here is that nothing brought in goes home. This is the Amish bachelor party Bret has been talking about.

Now, the question we'll all need to answer is how interesting we want to make it on ourselves. Sure, we can fill up with nice, consistent paint from the same brand and batch. Or... we can make it a total crap shoot (possibly literally) and bring out the Bucket of Doom. What goes in gets mixed up for all to use.

the only reason I voted for separate was to help isolate any issues with bad paint/broken paint from contaminating the lot.

Thats a valid point. I voted to mix the paint, making stock barrels a little more equal to the freak barrels, since the paint sizes may vary.

    I voted for CHAOS!
I think if someone wants to dip from the common pot they can. If not, they can play too, but must have some disadvantage, like they have to play with a balloon attached to a string on their mask.

I'm with Bret. I like the balloon idea. Or maybe they should have to wear a bright Red Flower shirt and a Big Red Clown nose. Or something along that line.

Depending on turnout and the amount of paint available to share, we may need to mix in new field paint if there isn't enough to go around to get us through the day. We'll have a better idea the closer we get. At this point, the whole concept is entirely experimental and subject to tweaks as needed.

Personally, I have about a case and a half of various leftovers to donate to the event. Trying to bore match paint left over from different fields and events is going to be next to impossible. I'm going to advise anyone with a barrel kit to size up and that playing with a closed bolt marker could be... interesting.

My vote no longer counts. I have another engagement on the 18th. Sorry fellas.

I've been giving this some thought and to get consistent velocity, we shouldn't mix the paint. Just pull out of any box we have.

I’ve thought about that as well. The only problem I see with not doing it is that much of what’s being brought will be leftovers. We’re inherently going to have a little of this and a little of that. Ultimately, it’s up to you guys how we do it.

I voted to flip the coin. Let fate decide. At the end of the day it's only a game. I'm hoping to play this one. Let's go!

          I'm ready!
5 mostly full cases of paint and 4 guns I've never used on a field. One is an electro! All were flea market finds too.

Awesome! I'll have about a case and a half of various odds and ends. The 180R will be first on deck with the Emek or X-Mag on standby. Adam will be shooting his Emek, but we also have half of an Etha 2 on deck if he wants to transfer the guts over. I'll also have the Threshold at the field if I can fix the HPR leak.

We’re less than a week away from this game, so let’s get a headcount started. Please respond if you’re planning on attending. If you’re interested but don’t have any leftover paint to donate, that’s fine too. You can contribute however you want whether it’s with food, beverages, or toss in a bag of field paint. The goal here us just to have a good time and burn though whatever we have.

On FB, WP announced they will be running another streetball event on Saturday 12 to 4.

I saw that too. We’ll certainly be equipped well enough if you want to mix in tomorrow afternoon.

Today was textbook perfect weather. While our group was more of a trio, I still had a great time mixing in with the renters and the streetball crowd. The goal was to blow through all of the leftover paint, and I was mostly successful in that, but we ended up inheriting even more paint from the streetball crowd. We ended up coming back with about another case at the end of the day. At least I can make another weekend out of it.
