Yeah, I think stubbing would be biggest issue...but I've always hated trying to climb over fallen trees and things in boots/trail runners. Also have some stairs I've always been loathe to go up (bit of a "sniper's" nest) because people like to hide in there and if I ever go up there you have to step down carefully for fear of slipping on way down (large feet too big for steps, size 13).
It's got baked in heavy nylon/ballistic thread or something as a flexible rock plate in center.
As for getting shot in foot... been there, done that. Play in shorts and a t-shirt most times, so not too worried about that.
