So there is no o-ring on your tpc and the setscrew is screwed in to engage the tcp's thread (like it would be with a normal tpc, as there is no o-ring on the tpc keeping it set in place)? If the setscrew isn't screwed in to engage the threads of the tpc, the tpc is moving around leading to inconsistency. just remember to follow stanchy's advice once you put an o-ring back on the tpc.

tpc w/ o-ring --> keep bottom of setscrew flush with bottom of threads inside bolt to prevent the o-ring from binding up in the setscrew's hole
tpc w/o o-ring --> screw in setscrew to engage and lock threads of the tpc to keep the tpc from falling out of adjustment
