Theoretically finer threads give more surface contact area and will hold better. Realistically I expect the reason is that autococker threads are not an odd thread - they are a standard thread (I don't know the number and size but they are a standard). Tippman and SP have proprietary threads that are not a standard machine thread size and as such may have patent issues. AGD's bayonet style barrel did not allow for modern detents.
