The easiest solution I've used is to just wrap the hopper in electrical tape. I run into the same issue when using my APP 50rnd or 140rnd hoppers on my T2, and it's solved with a little bit of tape.
You could probably cut the feedneck of the hopper, but usually a longer neck helps create a better ball stack so you won't have to worry about having to shake it as much (Assuming it's a gravity feed).
