I do remember a similar device that was popular in the early 90s, except it was for CO2 tanks. Basically, it allowed you to screw on co2 tanks with only a 1/4 turn.

This was back when 7oz tanks were still the standard but not nearly enough for the gas-hog guns of the days. So, instead of a bulky 20oz, you would carry 2-3 7oz tanks, and swap them every time your hopper emtied.

I still have a couple somewhere. They worked great until they started to wear out, and the tank would wobble around.
