Great Science Fiction reads available from the Library or Gutenberg Project for free:
  • The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelly
  • A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain
  • The Dunwich Horror by H. P. Lovecraft (well maybe not true Scifi but I love H.P. Lovecraft's work)
  • anything written by Philip K. Dick
  • Space Viking by H. Beam Piper
  • Federation (series) by H. Beam Piper
  • Fuzzy Sapiens (series) by H. Beam Piper
  • Death World (series) by Harry Harrison
  • Stainless Steel Rat (series) by Harry Harrison
  • To the Stars (series) by Harry Harrison
  • Draka (series) by S. M. Stirling
  • General (series) by David Drake/S. M. Stirling
  • Hammer's Slammers (series) by David Drake
  • Falkenberg's Legion (series) by Jerry Pournell/S. M. Stirling
  • Jules Verne basically anything he wrote is worth reading. It is amazing how much of his science he got right or nearly right and has come to fruition.

I can keep going if you want more suggestions, I read a book or more a week and the majority of what I read is SciFi, in particular I love Military Scifi and true Space Opera.
