The hot end is fairly decent, so long as you remember that the PTFE tube extends into the heatbreak.

As to the actual extruder... That is more od a personal preference.

I have successfully printed numerous items with 20 TPI threads, and I have also printed some items with 32 TPI. The 20 tpi stuff will screw together, but the 32 tpi is just a little too fine for that trick.

Oh I hear you.
Yes personal preference for sure.
Just know what I've come across in the years doing this. And just the amount of time I've been printing and knowing what fails or wears and having a tight machine.

It's normal stuff and anyone who has one of these machines it's a great machine from what I have seen. I am pretty excited to get mine. I wont change anything on it for along time since I have two builds in the works. And the minor changes to the ender 3 that would be done can be remedied other ways as well.

The peek hotend is a good idea to get away from and upgrade. That is a very good point you made

The Ender's hot end is *mostly* metal That stupid PTFE tube which comes really close to the heat break is the only major "design flaw" I have found

Not sure I'll have to look at what you are talking about. If it's where I think it is there is a reason for it

This is a 1966 Fiat fuel injection replica. My brother in law wants to install it on his 1965 Cooper F2 racing car. I am using the printer to test the fit between the parts... The folks who made the replica just kinda drilled holes where ever.

The second pair of port's test part is printing now.

I printed a star topper off thingiverse for my xmas tree and did something odd that may be novel but not sure. I wanted the print to be in some ABS glow in the dark I have but I was lazy and didn't feel like taking the painter's tape off my bed and adjusting the height to compensate. Plus I didn't feel like waiting for my heated bed to come to temp, super lazy like. So, I set the temp to 225C, started the print with some PLA I had in already, let it print a layer or two, then paused and swapped the filament to the ABS.
Have I done something unique and paved the way for all those cheap printers with no heated bed out there to utilize ABS? Is this an xmas miracle or just my lack of noticing that this is a thing people have been doing?

I ran an overnight test part, and came down to the printer having been shut off. It turns out the Ender 3 uses a MOSFET which fails to on, and the heated bed's temperature was maxed out. It didn't ruin the print, but the house smells kinda weird.

I ordered a couple of replacement MOSFETs from DigiKey and I hope they will be here prior to Christmas, as I have been asked by my parents to bring the printer to show it off during the Christmas break.
