Replacement Follower for M17

Edit: This item is now available on Thingiverse.

So, my M17 decided to launch my follower after my last round today. Milsig sells replacement winders for the same price as a whole magazine - plus they're out of stock again.

I don't think so.

Fire up Fusion 360, warm up the printer and voila! I need to tweak it a bit since the follower pops out with the rest of the paint, but it's a solid proof of concept. I could just buy another mag (and I did just to play it safe), but I hate putting things to waste. If I can fix something, I will.

Nice! Before long you will have entire magazines in CAD/3d printing

That would be interesting but impractical

I printed this out again this morning at 101%, 102% and 103% scale. 101% was close but it could still pop out. 103% was secure but a bit too tight. 102% scale was just right. It would seem that tolerances are everything in this case. I re-threaded the follower to the winder using doubled up fishing line. As far as I can tell, it works as well as the original now.
