13ci Tank Stock

I'm currently playing around with a new stock for a 13ci tank. It's a lot like the old Brass Eagle tank caps where the stock just presses on using friction. In this case, the stock also extends the length by a few inches to make shouldering it more comfortable.

Cool, looks ergonomic!

What orientation you thinking of printing it?

Thanks. I'm debating between printing it with a wide brim and the tank side at the plate or printing it with the shoulder side down and dealing with support material. I'm thinking the latter would be the most stable way to do it.

To give it more grip, I've added some texture to the butt. Printing this cleanly may be a challenge, but at this point, it's just a work in progress.

Is that going to be solid? Looks expensive to print. But I like the design.

Looks good! Maybe remove the fillet on the tu e and print tube side down with a big 2 layer skirt at just tear away distance. Top heavy prints are risky on a moving bed w/o skirts. Also as above posted asked if solid ;maybe hollow out a cavity, actually its probably not super top heavy..

No need for it to be solid. I can play around in Cura to give it different densities. The tube should be strong, but the stock can be printed with less infill.

As I wrap up the raincover prints, I figured I'd revisit this idea. When I sliced the previous version, it required more supports than I would have liked. So, I simplified the design a bit and came up with this. This version will be printable without any supports and it will require far less filament. While not as ambitious as the previous version, it is more practical.
