Regarding barrel length

I keep reading about minimum effective length being 7-8 inches, so here my question. I want a short barrel for my A5. I'm looking at the lapco 8". Keep in mind I also use a python compression kit, adding about 1 1/2 inches to the barrel length. I was about to order a lapco 8" when I looked through my gearbag and found this little no name 6" barrel, so about 5 1/2" of actual barrel. The inside of this no name barrel looks better than my Palmer's brass, seriously. So my question is, would I gain enough accuracy (especially at range) by using the lapco 8" to warrant buying it?

No porting at all. Mirror shine though.

OK, that woud've been the only thing, if there was porting the effective barrel would be even shorter. But I would say its not worth it, especially since you have the python kit. Its going to be friggin loud tho

Keep in mind that with your python kit, if the sizer id is smaller than the barrel id, your effective barrel length is 1 1/2". I would buy the lapco in a middle sizing, and let the detent on the A-5 take care of the roll-outs.

I'd say a better barrel length is around 11-14 inches.

guys let science judge, go look up punkworks, barrels dont effect anything besides efficiency and consistency. as long as your barrel is better than an older spyder stock barrel you should be ok accuracy wise.

that no name 6 inch unported barrel is the stock barrel.

and drop the python barrel theres no reason to own one, ever. if you shoot a pump get off your *** and get a real barrel kit. heck dont even get a barrel kit just buy 1 barrel thats in the .679-.683 range and you'll be alright.

oh and a nice link for all you gentlemen,

it will be inefficient as hell, but it will shoot straight. the python with an underbore will significantly improve efficiency.

oh and a nice link for all you gentlemen,
YouTube - Barrels - what we know.

so a 1 inch barrel will shoot just as well as a 8-12" barrel... dont think so... i believe you need 3" and that is where it starts to not make a huge difference...
