Crosman 3357 indexing

Iv been having slight indexing problems with my crosman 3357 ever since I got it, never a regular thing, it just needed a little help once in a while. I decided to take it apart to clean and oil it and when I put it back together it started indexing perfectly. Better than I even knew it could! The cylinder feels a little loose when the hammer isn't cocked back and spins almost freely, whereas before it took a little effort to turn it (I thought that was normal). Does anybody know what might have changed?

A very good question, and hard to say what changed, they are sometimes like that. One I built for my brother was shooting extrememly low, like the hammer would barely strike the valve. I took it apart, looked at everything, reassembled and added a bit more oil at key points (though it didn't seem to need any more lubrication), and suddenly it was shooting hard, the hammer is noticeably hitting the valve harder, but I have no idea what changed (maybe just because everything is rotating on different sections of the pins and surfaces).

I guess thats what you get from a 20+ year old gun, it seems like every time iv taken it apart something changes.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but since the topic of the thread fit my question so perfectly I just shamelessly go on hijacking here.

I just got a Crosman 357 pellet gun in the mail. It's the one with the 10 shot cylinder.
Let's say I want to modify it to become a 3357, would I need to change the index finger and linkarm aswell as the barrel and cylinder?

Is there anywhere or any way at all to get index fingers for 3357 anymore?
If not, is there a cad model of the index finger that can be used if making new ones?
Or better yet, are there cad models of the 3357-specific parts needed for the conversion?

If making new ones, would it be an idea to make it from aluminum rather than from plastic?
Or would an aluminum index finger just eat away from the delrin cylinder.
Unless... Both were made from aluminum.

as far as I know you wont need to change anything, but Iv heard some 357's are different from others. I would suggest contacting acrewofone (although hes probably gonna see this within a couple hours anyway), he does excellent work on 3357/357's and should be able to answer your questions.

also, you mentioned aluminum cylinders? If your making a couple I would definitely be interested in buying some.

I could try to make an aluminum cylinder, but that would also add to the rather heavy marker. But before I CAN make one I need to know what they look like. Dimensions, plans, cad models, anything that can help would be nice.

But this was a side track. I do need to get the index finger working again. Right now it just flops around inside the marker when I pull the trigger. Funny that the guide for the intexfinger is also made of plastic. That little peice of plastic that is supposed to send the index finger in the right direktion is missing in this one. Broken off a long time ago it seems.

Unless... Both were made from aluminum.
The bottom part of the index finger sticks out and latchs into the teeth on the outside edge of the cylinder, this stops the cylinder in the proper place. So any 357 or 3357 can index a 6, 8 or 10 shot cylinder.

The spring tab is broken off on your cylinder plate, it supposed to push the index finger out of the slot to push on the cylinder teeth:

Ahh, so it is. Why did they make it out of plastic that is bound to break. Does it need to be springy or is it just a static peice that just steers the index finger out of the slot?
If so, then one could re-make that entire plastic front with the tab in lets say aluminum so it will hold a little longer.

Is there a cad model in existance of the 3357 cylinder and its tabs and notches?
