Looking for a reliable $300-600 end marker.

Just got a new in box PM5, and guess what... it has problems. Im takeing i back to the shop tommorow (the one i got it from). Im selling all of my projects ive got in order to get one extremley nice marker. I was just offered a spot on one of four teams at my local field so i need to get a marker and get out there some more to play.

Few things:

NO PROTO and NO GOG. That is all.

Take a look at the new Drone DX from MacDev. It basically is a stripped down Clone and shoots flawlessly. It is a spool valve marker, is quiet and not a gas hog.

You can get a JMJ viking for 600 dollars somewhat easily. Vikings are the most reliable guns I have ever encountered, hands down. Not the most reliable electro, but the most reliable gun period.

EDIT - after reading the rest of your posting, I think you will probably want to get an ego. Buy the newest one you can afford that you like the looks of. They are great guns.

Everyone is throwing out good ideas BUT one big question....Are you looking for a NEW marker or a USED marker? This will narrow your choices a lot but it wont be too bad.

-FEP Quest
-MacDev Droid

Egos are pretty idiot proof, then again, some people are just idiots when it comes to paintball equipment.

I don't know what your beef with Proto is, but their newer stuff is really good. Other than the PM5 being a bit outdated compared to all the new stuff, it's a solid performer.

Check your orings and make sure it's lubed.

I would look into the drone and if you wanna go used you can pick up a geo older egos or DMs but the drone is definitely a gun worth looking into.
