tac cap mod

Hi,

I have been having issues with my limited round hoppers feeding reliably.

having limited access to pocket hoppers ($20 to ship an APP hopper ) no winchester hoppers around and only GXG pocket hoppers available

I have thought about modding a tac cap.

A quick search hasnt turned up anything and i was wondering if someone had attempted this before

Thanks

Mike

only heard of doing the tac cap hopper for an a5. normally if you cant get a pocket hopper you just cut up a regular one and epoxy it back together the size you want.

Try this yet? https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/d...ve-feeder.html

EDIT: If your having trouble with getting 50balls in there, all you do is cut the stock lid off take a slide-on pod cover elec. tape it and super glue the inside. Much like replacing a Winchester lid. That should get ya your 50.

i thought was to mod a tac cap to fit a standard feed

i did a proof of concept to see if it would actually be feasible

i am using a semi rigid plastic plumbing cap and a 3/4" brass tube
put a hole slightly smaller than the tube so when the tube is pushed in it creates a slight funnel effect to add in feeding.
I put the hole in the center, but now i am thinking it might be better closer to one side (maybe half way between the center and the side)

my little contraption holds just over 20 balls and if feeds pretty well. although it still gets jammed up a little when it is full and hopefully moving the feed tube might help with that

Damn, if you were in the USA I could ship you an APP hopper. It would probably be the same $20 from me too lol

ANS gear, extreme rage hoppers. Probably your best bet. I don't think you'll like the tac cap, it probably won't fit that well......

do the same thing but with a pod
cut the middle out, glue the to together... you've got a built in lid and everything

update.

My one of my local stores now carries the APP hopper so i picked one up - wasnt on their website 2 days ago lol

picked up a wider copper tube which aids in feeding

drilling a hole off centre made it feed worse - it caused the balls to jam up

a curious effect is that the balls fall from the centre and leave a "tunnel" and the rest of the balls feed from the top

hopper full

hopper after the centre balls have fed

i have a buddy who is a sheet metal worker and i will see if he can cut off about 3/4 of the length of the wider section and chamfer the edges
