Replacing Barrel Condom Cords

Call me cheap but...does anyone know where I can buy more barrel condom cord? I have a few condoms with sentimental value that have dry rotted and stretched out cords that I'd like to replace.
Is something comparable available at Michael's or any other craft stores under a creative name?

I used a cord from a common barrel condom to fix my favorite orange TPX barrel plug.

A good camping store should have shock cord for sale by the foot. I made a barrel condom from a replica muzzle cover for a M-1 Garand to use at Invasion of Normandy

I've purchased elastic cord at a craft store for the same purpose.
Found it in the sewing section.

Wish I had thought of this before pitching one of my favorite barrel bags. Do you all just remove the old stitching and re-stitch the new one in? Hand sewn or machine?

My plan is to cut a hole big enough in the seam, feed the cord through, tie a figure 8 stop knot and throw a few more stitches in the seam to tighten it up.

That's how my neoprene Reds was. No stiching to secure it though. Just the figure 8 knot.
