Mixed reviews may be in part from the early runs, I know they had QC issues with the back lining up with the front. I'd say the Stella will defiantly have a better fit and finish, but my empire kit still does just great

That's really splitting hairs. We are talking 5 thousandths of an inch between sizes. There is that much variance from one ball to the next.

Difference between roll outs and not having rollouts. Makes a big difference over the day of play if every time you go to shoot someone your ball rolls out.

Most times you can just size down.

Bingo. We all know no two balls are alike, even from the same bag of the highest quality. Using a .685 back for some balls that may fall closer to .689 will be just fine. I've never had an issue underboring like that, so I imagine this kit will do well for my needs.

If you still have problems you can put yarn in thread and into.barrel so it sticks there and balls won't roll out anymore.

Truth! But I doubt that would ever happen. When I still had inserts, I mainly used 675-680 with field paint and didn't have roll out problems.

Which is why I use a freak kit. If itís slightly smaller than one size but bigger than the next size down you either fight roll outs or barrel breaks.

I did similar. Used the stock empire kit, until I got the Stella. Stella is the only barrels I own now. GoG/Cocker.

The stock Empire was fine.
