Will 12g Explode in the Dryer?

I have been playing a lot of Stock Class and the wife was washing my paintball gear for tomarrow. I went down to switch the gear from the washer to the Dryer and noticed I had a few 12g in the pockets and it got me thinking. I don't think it would cause a fire but what temp will a 12g rupture? Bet it would make a hell of a bang.

Needs plenty of heat. Saw one explode in a campfire once. Scary experience. I'm sure it's very safe in a dryer.

From the interwebz

You don't need combustion for an explosion. An explosion is defined as a rapid increase in volume and release of energy. It can be caused by bursting due to internal pressure. Pressure vessels do indeed 'explode' without a chemical component.

The pressure in a 9 g CO2 cartridge is 850 psi at 72F. The pressure doesn't climb all that fast with temperature. It would reach 975 psi at 120 F which is high but not horribly high. The burst disc on the top of the cartridge blows out around 2200 psi which isn't reached until around 1200F...think camp fire.

If the burst disc ruptured, the difference between that and an explosion would be a matter of semantics. If you were near one, it'd make a hell of a noise and you'd probably call it an explosion.

Ok well thats good to know. Dryer don't get that hot unless it already on fire then we go bigger problems then a few 12g. Thanks for the info.

The 12 grams discharging might actually help suppress the fire due to the CO2 gas being released displacing the oxygen.

Probably. If you think about it, a 12 gram is pretty much a miniature CO2 fire extinguisher.

Didn't really think of it that way, But good point. I imagined the thing exploding under pressure more so then starting a fire. That was more the wife freaking out for a bit. Sounds like they need an extreme about of heat to do so.

The exploding part is really the dangerous part. There's certainly not going to be a fir in the explosion, though.
