F4 illustrator questions.

Just picked up a really nice f4 from a pawn shop and Iím mainly wondering if these will run on hpa? Itís my first illustrator and it came with a dead co2 tank. Would rather not buy a co2 tank if I donít have to

It could, but it was designed for CO2, so you may have trouble getting close to 300fps. Definitely use an 800psi output tank.

I used to run my F4 on HPA. I had no problem reaching 285 fps.

Good to hear. I have to clean this one out and put new rings in. She’s dry and crusty. Excited to see it work after that

At most you would have to mess with the springs a little.

I would suggest that if you are going to run HPA ger one of the HVC's for the front, just to add some volume.

I should clarify that I have a HVC on my F4. It didnít occur to me that it would have an impact on HPA.

Even if it isn't, is there some reason that "Spyder" type springs couldn't be used in it?

Illustrator springs are significantly different than spyder springs. Longer overall (I think), definitely smaller in diameter and tighter coils

The Manual section here has it. Check for the F2 though as all the parts are the same but the F2 manual will tell you the size and material for each oring.

I find that because of the small volume in the stock gun a little extra volume can't hurt.

For springs your best bet is to fine a BE Raptor spring kit. It was an Illustrator clone.
