Random hole drilled into e-cocker body - please help identify

Can anyone help identify what the hole halfway down the body here is there for?

If I had to guess, and assuming it goes all the way through I'd say someone drilled it for break beam eyes.

Either that or possibly the stop bar that holds the valve in place

Bizarre. Body is a Doc's Fastback, made by Lapco.

Looks like the other side has a punch mark, like they were going to do the same thing there. I would also guess an attempt was made for break beams, but then found they had drilled too low and quit before totally messing it up.

Nice. I was the second owner of this body over 12 years ago. Tracked it down and just bought it back (and paid what I'm sure is one of the highest prices ever paid for a fastback LOL).

Does anyone have a referral to someone who could patch the hole prior to reanno?

Doc or Angry Antle on facebook. Usually a pretty pricey repair.
