PMI Pure Energy Thor bottom line/second stage adjustable reg.

As the title says I just boughy one of these thinking kickbutt product for really cheap.
Is it worth keeping?
Before I do any type of rebuild/next marker build I would like to hear from members that accually used it in the past.
How is consistancy blah blah blah. The weight is fine as I do keep in decent shape and don't care on that note.
I do look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Lastly, I thought the piston in the front is always flush. Looking at the manual, it seems that it will be trying to break my fingers every time it cycels. Am I correct?
Thankyou ahead of time.

I think we may have spoken about this briefly already, but I don't remember so:

I use one on my Illusion, I have used them on STBBs in the past.

With the Illusion the consistency after a fresh rebuild was noticeable versus what I had been seeing before using the reg. Without the Thor I was getting +-15fps, with the Thor it was around +-10fps. So it's a noticeable difference, but not as drastic as you might experience with some of the more renowned HPRs. Keep in mind that there are plenty of other factors that could have been affecting my consistency (weather, temperature, paint, gun, etc).

On an STBB I didn't notice a huge difference in general consistency, but it definitely cut down on my "wingers" (huge spikes in fps from liquid co2, etc).

Could you post a picture to better explain what you mean by the piston sitting flush? I'm not quite sure how to answer. If you want I could show you a picture of my Thor to show you what it "normally" looks like.

I like my Thor. They're easy to service and adjust and as they're one of ~4 theoretically available bottomline HPRs I think they're a good value for the performance.

Hope that helped a bit.

As was said they're not bad regs, but as you mentioned they are heeeavy. Another similar reg, if you can find one, is a centerflag doolie. Lighter, and in my opinion, a better regulator. If I ever get any builds finished, I've actually got one gun with a Thor, one with a doolie, and another with a modified mini reg. Granted they're different platforms, but it would interesting to compare.

I mostly agree with this, I had an LP Doolie on my shoebox and I liked it. They are particularly difficult to find though.
