Need help with my nut.

Have a maxflos reg and the original owner cranked down crazy hard on the locking rink aka locking nit and now itís jammed on there I have no way to get it off non of my wrenches are big enough to fit it and my vice grips didnít work itís ugly now but I need to get in to tighten the vertical adapter. Any suggestions

He only mentioned the singular "nut" and makes me wonder why it is by its lonesome.

Throw it in the freezer? make everything contract/expand a bit?
