Cocker pump with SLP tank and gas-thru grip?

Long story short, if I have an SLP tank with a shim or two to bring output pressure to right around 350psi, can I theoretically run that directly to my cocker pump via gas-thru grip or a reg with internals removed? Would there be a big difference between that setup vs a standard output tank going to an HPR set at 350psi?

In theory you should be ok.

The only issue I could see is if you need to chrony lower than your setup will allow - at least with an adjustable HPR you can tweak your input pressure easily.

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them.”

That is true, I guess a workaround might be having some lighter springs handy? Or I could just stop being a cheapass and buy a reg

Bingo. Even just something basic would work for that. I hear good things about the Azodin regs. Or find a WGP ergo or black magic reg. Both are really solid and decently cheap

I hate the ergo, black magic, empire regs. everyone drives the piston thru the reg seat. seen it happen way to many times. I would go older cp before picking one of those up.

realistically though you can run it i would just have a few main springs on hand. It can really be a pain not having a reg.

That's nuts, BM/Ergo regs are my inexpensive go-to and they have never failed me.

That being said I primarily use Sidewinders because I drank the AKA koolaid

I can count at least 15 I have had to fix. I think I have rebuilt 2 cp’s.

I prefer sidewinders too.

Okay good we're still friends then.

Dagmar do you need a cheap reg? If you're not picky I think I have a few random regs that just need a rebuild.
