A spyder is a pretty short parts list to be completely honest. I will try to put them in order from best to worst, performance-wise.

Internals:

— Valves: AKA Tornado, Maddman Rocket, MagnaValve, Lab LP, stock

—Stryker: Fatty or Slim versions, and the only true upgrade here would be an Alamo City Delrin version of either one

—Bolt: AKA Tornado. Basically anything other than an ACS(Anti Chop system) or shock tech as they were most prone to tolerance issues and/or headaches

—Springs: Maddman springs are pretty comprehensive, or 32* had a decent set as well

—Front blocks: AKA Mitey Max or the Trinity 15* Assault Blocks are the better choices but pretty rare. Anything would work here as long as you like the aesthetics

—Trigger frames: User preference here, but Benchmark made a pretty solid mech frame, Mako had a good electro frame. There are plenty to choose from here

—Barrels: AKA Javelin and Dye made great spyder barrels, but most of this is user preference again

If I remember anything else I will add it here as well, or anyone else can chime in to correct me

Are each of these parts compatible with one another? For example, can I do a maddman spring and tormadk valve? Etc etc

When the body arrives, I'll take a bunch of pictures.

I wonder if there's enough meat there to rethread the body for track shoe spikes. You can get them in a variety of shapes, size, materials and lengths and they're cheap.

****in' A. Did I post this in New to the Sport or did it get moved?

I meant to post in Ask the Experts or even The Dead Zone.

Lol, I was just looking for this thread again and realized what sub-forum it was in.

Riot, take photos because

But Ganon proved that it needs the front block so no need for a pic of that!

It should arrive Monday. I'm still not sure if this was moved or not. Ha.

I was also thinking, what's stopping me from just picking up like a $30 Spyder compact and throwing it in this bitch? Lol

Interesting. Very interesting.

If I remember in the morning (and have time after dealing with the snowstorm), I'm going to grab a spike and bring it in to that guy to discuss what you and I had talked about in PM. I don't know if he'll actually design it but at least he'll give.me.some insight. Will let ya know in private.

Anyways, lots of good info here.

Anyone know where I should start looking to gather parts? Just thE WTB section?

What parts you need depends on your intent for the project.

A simple shooter you can use stock kingman parts

A low pressure spyder you need stuff like aka valve, aka bolt, etc.

Whichever you decide you will need a striker. Most common is kingman.

Fronblock/lpc is really up to you. If you like straight cant beat aka, angeled is the assault block I believe its called.

Bolts there are a myriad of options.
