I would tap it and put a grub screw into it before I tried welding it, but I'm not a welder. Or an expert.
The beauty of the Automag is that when you get it set up just how you want it, you discover that you have enough leftover parts to build 2 loaners.

Have you posted on Custom cockers? There was a gentleman there who was amazing at repairing drilled cockers. Basically brought them back to New but I don't recall his name. It wasn't cheap but deffinetely woth it

The remaining dots are small pits from light corrosion. I left the final sanding and buffing for the anodizer.
