Paintball with a Fitbit?

I recently got a Fitbit (charge 3) and Iím pretty obsessed in winning a step competition with friends. Think itís safe to wear while playing? Going to new indoor field this weekend.

I saw someone wearing a fitbit once while playing. He took a direct hit to it, and now it's garbage. The wearer was a pretty interesting guy, 77 but lied on his waver and said he was 67 (he didn't need to, we'd still let him play at 77). He was color blind, so he couldn't tell teams apart, so he just shot at anything that moved, including his own team and refs. He was actually a pretty decent player, other than the fact that half of his kills were from his own team!

I wore mine, flipped inside my wrist. Came out fine but I also didn't have the misfortune of getting shot right in the wrist

I wore mine at an all day game last year. It made it through the whole day just fine. Then I was cleaning up for the day, and I set it down on the lip of my trunk. Forgot about it. Closed the trunk lid. Smashed.

They are based on accelerometers, its probably more accurate on your wrist but that doesn't mean it won't work at all in your pocket. Obviously if you have a heart rate tracker that won't work.

I wouldn't take that chance with my fitbit (charge 2). I would use a cheaper tracker, like the Fitbit Zip.

If you use the app, you won't be able to have both synced simultaneously, but it will still record all your activity the same. It doesn't separate activity by device. I do that for work: every summer we have fitbit challenges with the Zip (everyone must have the same device), so i unlink my charge 2 for those months.

Although i will tell you, the Zip (worn on the waist or pocket, usually) records less than the wristbands/watches. I don't do any more or less moving around on any given day at work, but the Zip records less steps. I think the watches pick up a lot of arm motion, which i do just as much as, if not more than, actual walking.
