A5 just spraying paint, common issues?

Looking for a bit of a brain storm here,

I have a alpha black with cyclone (A5 for arguments sake) and it is blowing up about 9 out of every 10 shots. I have also had a separate A5 do the same thing to me.

Was looking for ideas and common things that would cause this.

This alpha black has soft paddles in the cyclone and a anti chop bolt. I'm not ruling out chopping but I think based on what I've seen that it is just blowing up the paint in the breach/barrel. Is there anything I can do to solve this?

The paint that is making it out the barrel doesn't look like it's making velocity above 220 if I had to guess so I'm a little frustrated on this

Valken graffiti, fresh opened bag
Fresh rebuild on the marker

My first thought is extremely brittle paint. My second thought is that the soft paddles are slipping and turning the cyclone into a blender. Look inside the cyclone and see if there is broken paint inside. Pull the paddles and see if the center is able to spin on the shaft with the ratchet pushed forward.

O that's something I forgot actually, the cyclone is not feeding every single shot either, it's skipping some

I don't believe the cyclone is breaking them though, no paint in the cyclone

I haven't ruled out the paint, but even a bad case of paint usually more than 1 in 10 survive

If you manually actuate the cyclone, does it function properly?

Yes, just installed a tech t ratchet upgrade as well. Seems to function just fine under manual operation

JJ ceramic and I just thought about that like a half hour ago. I'm going to try it with the stock barrel and see if anything changes. I'm wondering if the paint it clipping the ledge of the barrel since I'm betting the bore is significantly different than the breach

1) Brittle paint - A5 chops high grade paint. Use cheaper one.
2) Aftermarket upgrades. - It is common issue when installing Tech T upgrades for a bolt or Cyclone.
3) Cyclone feed paddles installed incorrectly so it may feed 2 balls at a time. Rare but happens - after feeding cycle ends, paddles should prevent the paintball from falling into the marker. If they are not installed correctly, balls can roll in and out. As a rezult cyclone not fidding or bolt chops paint.
4) Barrel width.
5) Operating pressure - I've seen A5 shooting around 400FPS. And it blew up all the paint other than very hard and cheap one.

I'm ignorant about most things Tippmann, but I've heard that most of the paddle upgrades can cause problems.

I have had plenty of experience with the A5 and X7 Phenom cyclones to tell you that the stock parts are better than any of the "upgrades" any day.

You may be experiencing an overclock or under clocking issue. This can be verified by cycling the marker with no paint and looking at the paddles rotate. This can sometimes be caused by the cyclone piston not functioning correctly or just the cyclone ratchet being bad.

Another issue is that the paint may be getting flung into the breach at a high enough force to crack it in the breach. Whenever you go to shoot, you get soup. Again, my issues were upgrades installed, revert back to stock parts (even the hose) and see where you get.

The soft paddles wear out, plain and simple. The "softness" you get is a joke as they can fling the paint into the breach even harder, of which is where the vast majority of my paint broke.

I would myself revert back to the stock internals and see where you get. If they are worn out, ping Tippmann for the more current versions as they have improved the quality of the cyclone with some of the newer parts.

Can you run through the clocking of the cyclone for me? I'm wondering if that has anything to do with with it since I've been wondering if the paddles are sitting in the correct position at rest.

Since this cyclone is not stock to the marker I'm wondering if there is a little extra space between the cyclone and breach

I'll start with the stock paddles and go from there. I'm not sure the ratchet has anything to do with it since they are just metal versions of the stock rachet. I'll change that one back if it continues

The anti chop bolt however, I am now wondering if the paint is hitting the bore difference between the breach and barrel, stopping (AC bolt engages AC) and then getting blown up when air is shoved behind it. This would basically explain everything including low velocity on the shots that do make it out of the barrel
