Dye Rize Maxx?

Hey guys...

I managed to recruit another old friend to the team. He has an 03 Speed beyond repair and needs a new marker. I listed a bunch of options and then I showed him a bunch of your for sale threads... He responds with "Dye Rize Maxx" ?

The Dye Rize Maxx.... the what!? I had never even heard of it. Someone want to give me and him a quick run down on if it's a decent buy or not?

Pros? Cons?

Much appreciated!

Dye Rize Maxxed is the direction the Proto PMR went in. It's essentially a PMR with eye pipe and new bolt design.

I would probably deter him from that then... however, I dont have any real basis for that. Lol...

Ya, that's about it, new pmr

I don't have any first hand experience with them but after about 2011 the platform kind of took a nose dive if you ask me. It got super picky about what o rings you use in it

What kind of price range is he in? And is he looking for a spool? Or does it matter?

If spool and around $200 like a rail, you may want to look around for a FEP quest. Reliable platform, only a few o rings and is pretty smooth. Not sure about parts, you may need to look into that but last I checked the o rings were all standard sizes though

I think he’s going to end up going PE. He’s going to need a tank too. Thanks for the quick info, guys. The last dye I was interested in was the DM4.

I would strongly recommend against the rize. The 2011 and on PMRs (which was renamed the rize) are ion based, but the noids are shoddy, the regs aren't great, and eye pipes always suck no matter what gun they're on.

In the ~$325 retail range of the maxxed, you could instead get a mini or a used axe. Much more reliable, much more efficient, and still plenty smooth. Kind of a headache to work on, but they're still miles better than the rize.

It might be possible to get a used etha 2 or gtek in that range as well, which would be the real way to go.

Edit: dangit riot, you ninja'd me. Kinda went the same direction I was going though.

Haha. He mentioned the Empire Syx.
I’ve always liked the Axe platform. Reliable, upgradable, tons of aftermarket... but the price point of the syx... am I missing something or is that a $700 Axe?

If it's pe I would say etha all the way. Personally I think it's really under rated for how well it shoots

The Syx is essentially the new Axe Pro. It is a $700 axe, but it has a bunch of upgrades to warrant that. OLED display, better barrel, etc. With the Syx, they made a change to the engine where it uses standard o-ring sizes instead of oddball metrix o-rings (2.7MM? Come on, Simon). At that price point though, you can do much better. 170R would be my choice.

Holy crap it's about time they fixed that.

I mean the flip side is I could purchase 3 used minis for the same price and have some spare o rings

I've never been a have fan of the platform, it's nowhere near worth 700 if you ask me

It's like they had all the pieces to make a decent ram driven FASOR but then went, "naw, let's turn all this around backwards and stick with the backwards theme by making some poor decisions internally as well"

Granted the platform has gotten better over the years but the syx is finally at the point where the mini/axe should have been about 7 years ago if they just had some common sense about the design
