Spyder Mr catch fire 🔥

I sold a Spyder MR2 on eBay as rebuilt, meaning taken apart, cleaned, and new Orings. The buyer messaged me saying that everything was fine until he plugged it in and said it caught fire. Is this a common thing or, what I suspect, is he used wrong power plug??? Anyone hear of this before?

HA! Now that's a story

I'm betting though that there was a standard 9v in there and he plugged it in and tried to charge it

Even if he did there's no guarantee that what the buyer had in there.

A lot of times those 9.6 batteries don't hold a charge all that well.

So, wrong battery, wrong charger or the strangest short out I've ever heard of in paintball

I did not sell with battery or charger. I asked what battery and charger he used, but haven't got a response.

If you didn't sell it with a battery or charger, then the buyer obviously provided their own. It would be worth knowing the type of charger and battery they used. Either one could potentially cause a problem if they weren't suitable. You'll definitely need photos of both. What exactly caught fire? Was it the battery? Did a capacitor burst?

Smoking and catching fire are two different things. One thing i found working in BME is that; what staff report as the issue and what the actual issue is, are often 2 different things...

they will say their monitor froze, but in all actuality it didnt freeze and data/ programs are still actively running on the display; its that the monitor soft keys became unresponsive...
