Tippmann 98c velocity very low no matter what

So here is an odd one for you guys.

98c with a flatline and no matter what I do, it's shooting at around 180fps

Tried different springs, tried paint over reballs, internals are polished, fresh rebuild and plenty of oil

It's not tank output pressure. I have another 98c and with the same tank that one shoots 280 without issue

I have a full main spring kit and no matter what spring I have in it, it won't shoot over 200.

I doubt it matters but there is a small leak from the poppet, I changed out both internal valve o rings and it still has a small leak.

Thoughts?

I feel like this is going to be something stupid that I overlooked

Or velocity screw is too far in or out.

What velocity do you get with a straight bore barrel?

Is FVA all the way open?

Could valve be bent or damaged causing small leak and also affecting pin or hammer travel?

Is the ball detent backwards?

Hammer drag?

Swap valves. Does it persist?

Is it an old flatline or a new one? If it old with a lots of play it might cause drags on the ball and need to be sent to tippmann for rehoning.

Thought of this, as long as I open the valve a little, I can blow from the ASA through the valve

It's basically open, the velocity screw is still in the valve but it's not restricting flow at all because it's so far out

good question, I'll try this tomorrow

Possible, if it is this it isn't obvious at least but I can check on it

No, brand new one

If it is, it would have to be to the point that I can't tell

If the straight barrel doesn't give results I'll try this

How do I tell old vs new?

I'm inclined to say old. The guy I bought it from, it's been sitting for a long time

The old flatline mounts to the top of the reciever as well, while the new one only mounts at the threads.

I just have a threaded insert into the breach that clamps the barrel into it.

with the old flatlines those inserts could be a real pain. Do you have an o ring on the front bolt? Maybe it's binding in the flatline insert and slowing the hammer down, causing the valve not to open long enough / lowering velocity.

If I remember correctly people always said to actually take the shells apart to install that insert so that it would sit deep enough and properly. Maybe try that to make sure it is seated correctly and not binding on front bolt.

Then again, I would expect that you would be able to feel the binding. I think the valve or the powertube is just goofed up.

Never dealt with one myself, but could this be a symptom of a cracked power tube?
