TL;DR hole size controls how fast balls get spent

2 inch diameter rule.

Why can it be so difficult for those who don't know the rule to even take a moment to look into it? They usually end up being stubborn and resistant to change what they know.

Has anyone had any luck informing someone of it?

I'm having a tough time with my 7oz tank and I'm starting to feel almost like its a lost cause...

At the end of the day it is up to the discretion of the field/shop owner if they want to fill your tank or not. Trying to convince them after they told you no is probably only going to tick them off.

It's because it requires the individual to admit they didn't already know everything there was to know about paintball. If you can think of a way to inform them of the rule, and allow them to save face at the same time, it would probably make the process a lot more smooth.

Best thing to do is get your own C02 tank and fill station and never have any problems.

If that's true, feel free to send em on up to Canada

I typically carry one extra tube and give them 1 ball from it.

I had a guy last weekend that wouldnt fill a 22ci tank that is under the 2" rule. I mentioned to him and he refused to even consider it. Had no idea what I was talking about. Now I have to find someone else to fill it. Pretty annoying considering it looks brand new. Like has been said getting it rehydro tested will be about $30 if I can't find someone to fill it.

I have been troubled by the claims that the note on the table in CFR 49 180.209 might not mean what most of us hoped it meant regarding re-hydroing our small bottles.

I have not seen a link to the following interpretation posted before, but it seems to confirm the 2x2 rule does exist and is a thing:
PHMSA Interpretation #14-0067
https://www.phmsa.dot.gov/regulation...interp/14-0067

Other, earlier links to hazmat.gov documents seem to be dead now, so if anybody has a live link to a document that contradicts this interpretation, I'd appreciate it being shared here.

The last time I got my 3.5 filled the clown at the local shop told me I only had one year left. I told him it's under 2" and he says yeah, but the fifteen year total life still counts agents it. BS.

Just because it does not need to by hydro tested does not mean it does not still expire for end of life.
