IIRC torque it to a min. 60lb/ft without loctite.

We should call crossfire and ask. Or call Luxfer and ask.

I watched the hydro guy do my tanks

he applied one drop of red away from the vent

his vice had a v shaped tray that the tank sat in

he had a wide ratcheting tie down that went over the tank and he cranked it tight

then he used a pipe with slots that engaged the shafts of the gauges
a 2 foot length of rod stock went perpendicularly thru the pipe

and he turned the valve hand tight till snug

Red? That seems odd... By the Loc-Tite believers I've seen, I've always been told to use blue.

It seems like it is different everywhere. Hopefully we wont have too many problems and end up with some intense gov't regulated tank bureaucracy. Geesh.

You can't tell a loctite by it's color. The loctite variations made for the commercial market are a different color than the ones you buy at Home Depot. When I worked in manufacturing, non-permanent (the stuff you want here) was red, but the same thing at retail is blue and the red version sold at retail is permanent. Always check your label. Trying to take a reg off that has had permanent loctite put on it sucks.

I would also recommend getting a Shocktech Flight Plan Regulator Wrench. It's a great tool for taking HPA regs on/off.

Agreed. I have a tank with a bum reg, and a good reg sitting next to it on my workbench. Problem is I can't get the damn reg off the tank. I'm gonna have to just send it to get hydroe'd early, and have them swap the regs.

I've always done my valves the 'official' way, as I know it--one drop of red loctite just above the vent hole/groove, torque to 40-45 ft/lbs. On an aluminum or fiber tank, you can also tighten it to 65 without loctite, or in a steel tank or most Co2 tanks, chuck it in the vice and just put on the ol' Armstrong wrench.

And, yes, an unthreading reg can go without venting, if the hole is horribly plugged with loctite. My first antisiphon job tossed the reg into the air, thankfully at about 20 PSI or so. Grooves aren't that much of a problem.
