What to do with expired CO2 cylinders??

I have boxes of expired 9,12,16,20oz CO2 tanks. What can I do with them?
I won't rehydro them, it cost more than just to replace them.

Can I sell them WITHOUT being liable?

I cut a few in half to become pencil holders.
Some became wind chimes in our target range.
I could recycle them for the aluminum value.

Someone here suggested to double up the rupture disks, over fill them, and then put an AP round through them. Uhm...Any other REALISTIC creative ideas out there??

Alot of mine became part holders or pencil holders... or wind chimes.

Actually some of the other ones I cut both ends off of and they become short lengths of aluminum tubing

ChromeMoly tanks can be made into crucibles. All tanks can be used in the workshop to hold compressed air. Beyond that maybe a xylophone?

7 and 9 ounce chro-molly tanks are refillable at the local dive shop here in town. They won't do the aluminum ones but steels are ok .

Or get a bulk tank and refill yourself.

Make some wind chimes out of them and sell them on here, I'd buy one.

Remove valves, sort into brass, aluminum, and steel piles. Recycle, and use the cash for paint.

You'd need a lot of tanks to make the bother of taking them around to a scrap dealer worthwhile. At most the brass and aluminium in a tank is worth about a buck. The buying and selling prices being quite a bit different or the scrap guy won't be able to make a living. If you have to drive far with today's gas prices? Well you can do the math.
