Used the cocker for first time in over 10 years and it was blowing or chopping apart every fifth ball.

Brand new detent and wasnt using a force feed loader. Anyone recommend a good detent or should I get body tapped for a second detent?

Yes the bolt was clearing the breach.

Crappy paint would blow apart in the barrel and also blow apart in other peoples barrels. Between 4 of us shooting 2.5 cases of paint only i had the issues. My paint was all over the face and inside of the bolt, some up into feed neck.

1) I wouldn't rule out the paint, that stuff can be on the brittle side

2) could simply be not feeding in fast enough. Remember since that is a agitator it still relies on gravity to get the paint into the breach. You can try a test string where you hold the trigger back after each shot.

3)......yes......I realize that but by what means are you selection what pressure it is at? Just guessing? Have a gauge? By the position of the Moon?

Short stroking, maybe? What kind of setup are you running?

One thing I hate about posting in cocker groups is everyone assumes because I asked a question that I must know nothing about cockers. Chances are I was using a cocker and building some from parts before many of you started playing.

I was pretty specific asking about detents and not asking for suggestions on what the problem could be. If you post can you stick to the topic so I don't feel I have to defend my knowledge of the operations and timing of a cocker.
