I just had the exact same issue!

One of my valve orings was also toast, the bolt periodically just locks forward, and it double feeds and chops like its life depends on it.

Wanted a fun no hassle mech for open play and I haven't been able to get past the chrono station yet.

Chinese seals suck. It hurt wdp and still shows up. They tend to be metric also, which is sometimes a problem on copied designs that were not originally metric.

Not to hijack or anything, but I've got 3 1st gens and the single time I've had a problem was when I goofed up on reassembly.

I was about to say, 'yes, after the 3 trips back to the the shop in the first couple months...' then i remembered my most recent YT vid, where one of my reg o-rings had become unseated and was leaking all my air away...

It was the same oring i just replaced, so i could have just been i didn't get it back in all the way quite right (it was in an awkward place).

But it is still my primary gun, and i always play atleast saturday at every scenario with it.

As to the KD2, we've had some issue with paint breakage. Unsure if its chops or just barrel breaks. It doesn't seem to be a fragile paint issue as there have been games where we haven't had any problems at all, and other games where its every 3rd ball. Ex: it refused to shoot the 5 star at LL9, however shot that same 5 star just fine a few weeks later at a local field.

Not really sure what the problem is. This fall i modified a 'hush bolt' to actually fit the timing on the KD2, and we've only used it once with no issues that weren't VERY oblong paint. (the paint would occasionally not fit in the breach of our automag)
