Is it worth 2k5ing 2k2s anymore?

I've always been a fan of the milling on the older intimidators and I'm curious, is it still worth it to 2k5 the older intimidators anymore? There is obviously the weight reduction, but is that enough?

Also, is anyone making/flashing new boards to go in 2k2 timmys? I'd like to be able to use anything I pick up in modern tournaments.

You can get the 2k5 Infamous board. I'm not sure what exactly it has for adjustments but its the most modern Timmy board I can think of. They seem to sell for $100 on their own though.

I would gladly use an old Timmy in rec play or tournaments.

I've got some 2k2 style boards with revised/2k5-ish programming on them so they can be flashed with it. I'm not sure if anyone does or can do it anymore. You could reach out to Field One to see if its possible. DirtyWorks (group that bought out all the new old BL stock before Bob parted ways) was supposedly coming out with some brand new boards but I'm not sure where along they are in that process or if its still a thing.

Like Hobbes mentioned 2k5 Infamous boards will fit tournament needs with regards to rate of fire caps, or you'd need to look for Empire/Infamous 1.5 coded LCDs.

If you're ok with just swapping frames out doing a 2k5 conversion on an older body style is just that easy, remove the old one and slap the new one on with its corresponding guts, no mods needed.

Good to know. I remember 2k5ing being much more parts intensive for some reason.

If you want to truly convert the body the front block hole needs to be modified so that 2k5 front blocks will fit properly.

The frames use the same mounting points and ram sleeves are a direct swap out as well which is nice!

Some actually prefer the 2k2 style sleeves over the 5s.

Really depends how far you want to go!

Is it worth 2k5ing 2k2s anymore?

Although this isnít a true 2k5d timmy I absolutely love it! I know itís just a plain 2k2 body but the lines and mill work is fantastic. Feels so perfect in the hands also. It will get a 2k5 frontblock in the future. Just have to many irons in the fire at the moment.

So I am mistaken. My red timmy there is a 2k5. I thought for some reason the body was a 2k2

Edit this. The red timmy is a 2k2 body

So I bought a Timmy (or two) to 2k5, but I'm not sure of the parts I have.

This is the first, a dragon that has been drilled for 2k5 front block. It seems to have:
2k5 frame, front block, ram sleeve.

Which means I need:
A ram, 2k5 lpr, harness, and board.

Or am I mis-identifying the parts?Name: Screenshot_20180604-204013.jpeg

Pbyrne I think you have a evil frontblock. Those are gen 1/2 specific I donít think that is drilled for 2k5 but I could be wrong. The alias block looks different than that.

It does however have a 2k5 frame with a led board of some sort.

Nice looking gun for sure!!!

The black dragon is fully 2k5ed with the alias frontblock ram and sleeve lpr and frame.

The red gun just has a 2k5 frame that is now on another gun.

It's an Alias frame with I'm guessing a 2k2 sleeve.
