Were you shooting for 10mm shank diameter?

I just discovered that you can get ER11 collets up to 8mm (well, 5/16" that is rated out to .315", which is 8mm - I thought 6mm was the max for some reason), and 8mm straight shank ER11 collet chucks. Going to have to get a set and give this a try.

Yes. Originally I thought the 1 2mm shanks were solid... it turns out they are hollow, so I decided to go with 10 mm instead of .375" so I could have a little more meat left after turning.

I really like the picture posts, because I don't understand most of the word posts.

Currently I am beginning to wonder if words are escaping me...

More cool pictures in the twister thread as soon as I figure out why they won't upload. :/

This was one of those weekends... My girlfriend had to put her much loved cat to sleep, as he was having massive seizures, and in pain... The person I thought I had a deal with regarding an industrial cart to place the lathe on, so it can be moved more easily sold it just before I arrived...

The good news... I purchased a small amount of little tooling that will fit the lathe, so when I find it a home, I can get it up and running

Quick update while I wait for something at work to finish running...

I have acquired a cheap Harbor Freight "industrial" cart which swears it is rated for 450 pounds... We will see this weekend. While I was perusing their wares, I found a coupon for $50 off of one of their small air compressors... So one jumped into the cart.

If all goes well, I will be able to test the Rhino CNC lathe this weekend.

Anyone in the Bowie MD area that might be interested in trading 10 minutes worth of lifting labor for some small trinket from my shop?

As of leaving Jen's, the HF"industrial" cart is supporting the weight of the lathe... Good news...

More good news... Both steppers move and the machine's spindle is quiet from 200 to 2500 rpm.

The bad news... The tool changes is DOA, and he auto open/close cover is not working...

The cover is a meh thing, but the tool change is another story.

Unfortunately, I only get to work on the unit on the weekends, so this may be a long haul project. It seems the fix may be as simple as a stuck valve, which I will promptly work on on Friday. More news on saturday

Unfortunately, due to further structural work needed on Jen's house, I was unable to get ot diagnosing the lathe... Next weekend.

Worse, I don't even have any cool pictures of the sliding glass door, that wasn't able to slide any longer due to my over enthusiasm with the jack... I pinched it against the top of the frame, and pulled it all out of whack, trying to remove a rotten header.
