An excellent thought. Can you link me a picture/product you have in mind? I am most curious about this... I am too used to having to tear down drywall to add circuits to power panels

This is just an example, but a simple access panel they sell at Home Depot. They have different sizes too up to 18x18.

All good. I’m having one of them now looking in a Verizon cell cabinet trying to figure out how to reroute alarm wiring so I can swap the door hinges.

I don't think mine was that much, but I do have an empty 220 drop in the garage now for the same reason, after having my Pacific Electric panel redone. Like yours, the wiring in it also looks much better than it did before.

I have another 120 circuit I want to add about 6 feet away. I'll look at that access panel too.

Could you just add another ground line in a better place rather than replace the old one?

When they replaced my box, the ground was no where to be found, and the neutral from the power drop was disconnected. Something had to be connected somewhere. The bad neutral was actually a bad splice after hurricane Ike. The house was built in the 70s and not wired all that carefully in the first place. You knew something was up when both halves of the oven would only trip the breaker in the morning, not in the evening. Between all of the energy efficient appliances and lighting, the power is now working out pretty well.

I still like to remind my wife that she puts more wattage on her hair than what the microwave oven uses.

That looks like a good idea, and I will float it with Jen this weekend. We were both so tired last night we watched Dunkirk on DVD and went to bed.

Unfortunately, no. This is a code compliance issue, and must pass inspection We are required by local code to have two ground rods, and the ground to the water main is the wrong gauge for aluminium ground wire, so it must be replaced

Kinda scary... Like my place in WV... Walk across the floor on the second floor and the lights flicker on the first floor.

Fortunately, we don't usually suffer from hair dryers Though Athena is trying to convince us she *needs* a flat and curling iron

Small update... The shop will likely be down until the end of February. The electrician is having trouble scheduling time to come by and install the second ground rod, and the new ground line to the water main. Once those two items are complete, we have to wait on the inspector to sign off, and then I have to do something about the drywall around the box. The access panel above the electrical panel is sounding really good right now, though I doubt we will ever need to install any additional circuits in the house.

Once all of the above is complete, then I can put the shop back in working order.

Sorry to delay people's projects further. If anyone needs their projects returned, I will cover return shipping to get them back to you, as this is a problem on my end of the universe.
