Fire at Back Country Paintball :(

I know not many of you have had a chance to play at our little field up north in Bracebridge Ontario, but I just found out 5mins ago there was a fire at the proshop. From what I can tell the proshop, and everything in it is gone.

No one was hurt, the owners house and the rest of the property wasn't damaged as far as I know. Definitely a sad event for the family, I will be talking to Tony and seeing what happened and how things are going to progress from this point on. It's going to be a bit of work to rebuild.

I'll update this thread with more info as I go.

As of last night when I texted Tony he was speaking with adjuster. I'm sure everything will get covered, but the fun part is how long will it take for things to be replaced. I'm worried about how much of the rental fleet was damaged.

I'll be heading up in 2 weeks, I can't make it to castle so I'm going to make the game he was having. Hopefully this fire doesn't put a huge damper on the game.

Thanks for your comments all, Tony will appreciate it.

Hopefully it will not take to much time & there will not be any other set backs with returning to the pace & level of business the shop was at before the fire. Be sure to keep us in the loop as things progress.

Well good news, the Parkinsons Fundraiser game is still on next weekend. They aren't going to let a little thing like the proshop and all the inventory going up in flames stop them.

CottageCountryNow Article: Fire fails to snuff out fundraiser

Article has a pretty good picture of what used to be the front door, and where the back wall used to be. I really hope I didn't leave anything in there. I do know I'll have to make him a new proshop sign now for sure. And it does give me some ideas for more posters in the future.

Anyway, if anyone has nothing else to do on the 21st of April you can join me at the field for the second Boot Camp game. I get the feeling there won't be a raffle this year though :P

I will tell Tony that once rebuilding starts, he has to take lots of pictures.

Again I thank everyone for their thoughts on the family and the business.

well despite the fire previously and the rainy night we had last night, we had a good turnout. 35-40 people, a great group of players from Owen Sound came for the day. We raised $800 for the Parkinson's Society.

The building has been torn down, all that is left is the concrete pad. It looks quite different with nothing there. I think in a way it will be nice since they had lots of plans to change around the old proshop, they can now do everything they wanted. I completely forgot to take a picture now that I think of it.

Good news, insurance will be taking care of things. It wasn't arson, and no one was hurt, so they said it wasn't a problem. Apparently the fire department had a fun time when some of the air tanks started exploding, but it sounds like in most cases the relief valves did their jobs. Tony should be able to get most of the equipment ready for the start of the season with no problem.

Tony was very happy to hear all your well wishes. Thanks guys.

I had myself a fun day, a little time with the Phantom, and a good time running a small hopper and my 22cu tank on my mag. Apparently I can get about 150 shots off that lil guy. Dave, the pack I got off you was perfect.
