Pardon the noobish question, but what's special about that kind of frame? Any pics I could see?

The frame has a "slider" trigger, that's what makes it special, it's not actually the frame. Instead of having a pivot point and swinging pendulum style, like a "hinge" trigger. Sliders do just as the name implies the trigger slides horizontally as you pull them.

Doesn't improve your accuracy or make the marker more efficient. It's just a comfort/familiarity thing. Some people simply like how they feel compared to a hinge trigger.

I would be willing to debate that statement.

Here's a picture for the uninformed.

Then you better be willing the lose.

*edit*
And I'm not talking about kissassery, or having fun with people who don't know any better (like a group of us used to do a long time ago on the Tippmann Forum with the "Super Chromium" barrel.... long story). But actual accuracy. The trigger does 1 thing. It trips the sear so the hammer can do its job. That's it. Doesn't affect the hammer at all, doesn't affect the valve at all, doesn't affect the barrel at all, it's just a trigger.

When I talked to Rod and Mel about the old 86* slider frames, they were both pretty adamant about not making them again.
I know that the hinges are pretty easy to tech since there is very little that you can adjust (and mess up). From talking to Rod (and seeing him fix a few trigger problems infront of me) I got the impression that they used to have a few problems with people messing with the triggers and royally messing the markers up (trigger binding most of all). Meaning more time fixing markers and less time making markers.... and that is where CCM makes their money: making those makers that we know and love. I have a J2 with the slider and it feels "different" then the triggers on all my CCM'd sniopers and T2. It is again a personal preference thing with them: either you like it or you hate it.

If they ever did make them again, I think that those buying the slider frame have to attend a class and write an exam (and pass it) to be able to own it.

That is it in a nutshell.
