SR-1/SSR Thread

Show off your rifles here. What works, what doesn't, opinions, preferences and otherwise. This way we can clean up the order thread.

My SSR:

  • Pof-USA m-tac rail and barrel nut
  • Magpul BUS
  • Magpul stock (temporary, mission first tactical lightweight stock on the way)
  • ATI scorpion pistol grip (because soft rubbery Palm)
  • ATI milspec buffer tube and castle nut
  • Tango down stubby vertical grip
  • Hammerhead battle stick with .686 fin
  • Hammerhead M50 tip

Thankfully the SSR was built with a flat top rail to spec. I had this monolithic handguard in advance and it requires the flat top rail to mount properly. Installed, it lines up to the barrel nut perfectly.

Nothing fancy here, yet....

Brownells Carbine Stock
Double Star Carbine Freefloat Handguard
Magpul MOE Pistol Grip
Deadlywinds 14" Freak Barrel (to be replaced soon by a Hammerhead barrel)

This is what I like about the SSr. You can make the same rifle platform fit you needs.

You get to choose how your gun will look. From basic AR to full blown ultimate warrior.

As more people get their rifles and gear it'll populate. I wasn't expecting a mass entry of posts right away

I have mine in hand, but not a single piece of furniture yet...can't even decide on which HH barrel to get. So many options out there, which is a great problem to have, of course!

Weight vs. Aesthetics vs. Functionality on the field vs. Wallet

That's what we're here to discuss. Having said that, while the Tiberius adjustable riser is great for mask clearance and shot adjustment, it's one click increments are rather extreme and the piece itself adds a largely noticeable amount of weight to the rifle.

I have about 40 yards on the side of my house to mess with. At that small a range, a single click on vertical adjustment changes drastically (the Tiberius riser). I'm hoping to do field proofing tomorrow (considering I can get out there) and get some actual trigger time to familiarize myself with what I have.

So I added a scope and a Hammerhead barrel, and I must say, I really like how she looks.

Excalibur Tact-Zone Crossbow Scope
Nikon P-Series Scope Rings
Hammerhead Battlestixx 16" barrel with M50 tip (I'm using the CCM Cocker adapter with a .686 fin)

Both unique to their respective roles...

SSR
- black hawk ergo grip
- bmsmil sketelton folder
- ??? Fore grip.... No idea, gun show score from a $5 each parts box.
- barrel is a test platform. It is a Mastersconi freak bored dye clone back with my own take on the woosh barrel tip. Now since it is freak bored I have turned down an armson, a hammer head, a j and j strait rifled brass and a cmi tru flight barrel. I've yet to test them though.
- red dot is a random

I use this as a higher form of stock class play.

The SR1... That's my range gun.

- ecap graphite foregrip railed with a mag pull afg
- freaky European ar15 target grip from the 80's
- lapco muzzle break on the stock barrel
- ecap flat top rail
- large rifle scope leapers iirc
- ecap side car first strike holder
- not shown... But I have a anti cant mounted too
- the stock is a mako

This looks like a pretty good buy. I have never bought from them before but,I'll take a $100 chance. The thing to watch for is the information they give you about the product. This site specifically calls out 7075 (this is good) as the material it's made from. Plus it's made in the USA.(stated in one of the reviews)

Mil Spec Buffer Tube Kit - Heavy Duty
