CCM 86 frame grip compatibility

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking about having some custom grips made for CCM 86 frames, specifically for the Phantom 86 frame that I have recently acquired.

My question is this: if I have them made for the Phantom 86, would the grips fit all CCM 86 frames, or are there subtle differences between the Cocker and Phantom grips?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that they are not interchangeable, but I'm not certain. Just want to make sure before I go down this path.

Thanks.

I don't know the answer, but I own both a phantom 86 degree frame and a CCM MBP with an 86 frame, and my curiosity might just get the better of me!

CCM 86 frames are made to the "spec" of a CZ-75 for the actual grips. So if they make you CZ-75 grips you should be good for any of the CCM 86 Frames.

Unless I'm mistaken, all of the CZ-75 grips that I've seen are of a different shape than the CCM grips. They wouldn't fit inside the cutout portion of the frame.

It depends on the generation of CCI phantom 86 frame you have. Some of the older ones were slightly different from the newer runs from what I remember.

That's what I was afraid of. I vaguely remember reading something along those lines, now. Crap. I wanted to have a run of custom grips made and offer them here, but this complicates matters.

I guess it'll only be for the newer Phantom frame if I manage to have them made.

I don't know how the panels fit, but CZ wrap around grips fit fine on the 86 frames.

There are two versions of the CCM frames when it comes to grips though, and the fit is slightly different. I don't have both though so not sure how they differ exactly.

I just pulled the grips off both frames and the fit is exactly the same. Fully interchangeable.

For reference I have a prototype mid-block and the newest version CCM phantom frame.

Best of luck!!
