Casting KP RVA, trigger group?

Looking at the spare KP RVA i have. Im thinking to myself it would be fairly easy to cast these, and produce them fast. Has anyone ever attempted this?

I really think you'll run into a price barrier with casting them. Machining would be your best bet. Or check out the DIY on modifying a modern blue streak trigger group to work with a Sheridan. It's quite easy, just need to make a new sear and chop off a safety tab on the trigger.

Net cast the housing
Machine the housing
Machine the little brass components.
Source the springs, bearings, pins
Sheet metal work on the trigger plates

I think you're looking at around a $2000 dollar development cycle. Conservatively. You cut that down by maybe 1000 without casting... But increase the cost of machining significantly if you ask a shop to draw a 3d toolpath to do the back end of the trigger group to spec.

Then once you're tooled up and making them, cost per unit for runs under 100 parts will probably be around 25-35$

How much do they sell for? $50.

Good luck! But let me know when you're ready to get the ball rolling.

The flat back blue streak design always made more sence to me for rva setup. It gives more flexibility in set screw sizes being used for rva while also allowing you to use a longer spring if need be with no interferance.

But back to making them machining a simple housing design would be the cheapest route. The stamped steel trigger plates can be a pain to have done. Sure someone on here may have a source for them.

Making paintball fun again

The trigger plates are easy... For just one, cut it out with a bandsaw, finish it smooth, then heat and bend the trigger. Anyone can do that...

For a run of parts, CNC laser or plasma cutter. I have a plasma cutter, but it might be a little much for precise parts that thin. Laser cutting is actually relatively affordable... $250 for 100 pieces or so.

But you'd still be heating and bending the trigger by hand. No way around that.

Yeah I machine my own groups and just do what alpha says and make the trigger plates by hand. I've got it down to about an hours time to finish one trigger group. It's not incredibly difficult.

Someone has a very large pile of the triggers. Not sure Robo should say who he sold them to but if you can find out it might be a good pairing. Maybe they have something in the works too...
